OUR MOST RECENT OBSERVATIONS

Wednesday, May 30, 2012 (from after sunrise until mid afternoon)

Number of identified species:  15

Partly sunny, mid 50s to low 70s. I watched and listened until Aaron and I left for Douglas Park after school.

Canada Goose  3     Small flock flying south, fairly low

Ring-billed Gull  2     Flyovers

Rock Pigeon  6

Mourning Dove  1

Chimney Swift  2

Downy Woodpecker  1     On suet feeder

Red-eyed Vireo  1     Singing along the alley

Blue Jay  1     Took peanuts.

American Robin  6     Peak count came during a ruckus in the alley — lots of Robins calling and flying around, but whatever had there attention was in a backyard where I could not see what was going on.

European Starling  2     Heard calls

Northern Cardinal  2     Singing male and female at feeder

Common Grackle  2

Baltimore Oriole  1     Heard partial songs in trees out front, never did see the bird.

American Goldfinch  1     Heard flight call
